It’s not a coincidence that World Backup day it’s celebrated the day before April Fools’ Day. According to the World Backup Day website, 30% of people have never backed up, and that is just plain foolish.
With easy access to cloud storage it’s never been easier to back up a second copy of important files on personal devices, including phones. So, if something happens to any of your personal devices, you’ll have an easy resource to restore important documents and information.
Here at Smith Johnson we automatically back up our critical company information every night, and manually once a week to be taken off-site.
Including an off-site option is important, otherwise, if a flood, fire or other disaster hits your office, your backup will be destroyed along with your computer system.
Our back-up plan really helped us out when a fire sprinkler froze outside our offices on New Year’s Eve and flooded our first floor offices clear back to the server room. (We really wish we’d had our security camera focused on the outside front doors! It would have been spectacular to watch.)
