Community Involvement

Smith Johnson believes in giving back to our community. For over 25 years we have looked for opportunities to help others and be good community citizens. Our staff has spent countless hours, outside of the office, meeting with professionals from all walks of life to help them with resumes, job-hunting tips and supporting them in their job search. We are committed to making a difference.

The United Way of Salt Lake is an organization that is working to eliminate racial and economic disparities within our education systems and health outcomes. They are committed to providing and creating a more equitable system for every child and family to have access to education, a healthy life, financial stability, and opportunities to succeed.

The Sharing Place is an organization with a mission since 1993 to help provide a safe and caring environment for grieving children, teens, and their families. They provided a space using support groups to allow these families with grieving children to heal and channel their feelings through art, play, and discussion.

The Salt Lake Mission is a non-profit Church based Rescue Mission Ministry. In the Salt Lake Region, they are called to minister to men, women, and children who are in cycles of poverty, hopelessness, and dependencies of many kinds. They provide basic needs such as food, blankets, hygiene items to the homeless and others in need. The Salt Lake Mission also provides crisis intervention as well as counseling and educational assistance.

Volunteers of America here in Utah is a nonprofit organization with more than 150 paid staff that serves individuals with programs addressing homelessness, substance abuse, mental illness, and domestic violence. They help build community-supported bridges that provide paths for those who are vulnerable to increase their self-reliance and improve their lives.

The Utah Food Bank since 1904 has been working with community partners and volunteers to help feed Utahns. Their mission of Fighting Hunger Statewide has distributed 58.5 million meals. They distribute these meals free of charge to partner agencies as well as offer direct service programs to help the most vulnerable populations in our state.

The United Angels Foundation is a non-profit organization that is a parent-to-parent support group. They use three main focuses such as interaction, education, and resources to support parents and families of children with special needs. They view these children as Angels and believe that supporting parents and families supports them with raising them.

The Rescue Mission of Salt Lake City has 5 locations along the Wasatch Front from Ogden to the Salt Lake Valley. They are a faith based nonprofit organization that started in 1972 to help the homeless and Restore Broken Lives. Their mission is to see individuals change their lives as they find faith in Christ and strive to reach their goals of sobriety, employment, and housing.

First Tee Utah is an organization that enables kids to build and strengthen their character to empower them through a lifetime of new challenges. They are a nonprofit operating organization working with the Golf the Round in South Salt Lake. First Tee offers educational golf programs for ages 7 to 18 with all backgrounds that allows them to progress through the program as they go.

The American Heart Association for nearly 100 years has been fighting heart disease and stroke as well as helping families and communities thrive. They are an organization dedicated to improving heart health and improving overall health mainly from cardiovascular diseases and strokes.

The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium has a conservation program that believes in building a world that everyone takes part of protecting our ecosystems. They at the aquarium teach the public, care for animals, visit schools, and build partnerships to support healthy ecosystems around our living planet.

Intermountain Foundation has a mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible. They oversee local and regional fundraising programs throughout Utah and these local programs raise funds to benefit hospitals. They help with projects, patient programs, research, and other initiatives based on community needs.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers.  Their mission is to help improve the quality of life of patients and their families by extending research, providing education and support, as well as creating policy and advocacy.

Primary Children’s Hospital has been helping children, families, and communities for more than 95 years. They are ranked among the best children’s hospital in the nation. Primary Children’s also has family support services with a extraordinary staff that work as a team to help patients and parents with activities, positive distractions, and social support.

 

Smith Johnson encourages their staff to get involved and volunteer.  Each staff member can volunteer and be paid for their day out of the office.
