Job Description
This is a contract with a great organization. As a contractor for Smith Johnson, you are eligible for medical, dental, life, disability. Smith Johnson pays for 70% of your medical and dental and 100% of life and disability. The contract is also eligible for PTO/holiday accrued monthly. We are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator. The successful candidate will work on mission-critical manufacturing systems as well as the large-scale enterprise server infrastructure supporting the different assets of the client. This role is a great opportunity to join a team whose main objective is to ensure the stability of the operations in order to help the enterprise achieving its productivity objectives. The role will encompass direct contact and collaboration with local and/or remote experts, third party stakeholders and internal functions of our operations such as Automation, Engineering, Procurement and others.
Responsibilities (Sr. Systems Admin):
*Please note: Due to the 24/7 context of the business operations, you will be asked to support in resolving calls outside of regular business hours and participate in an on-call roster schedule.
Reporting to the IS&T Infrastructure Superintendent, and working on a Monday to Friday schedule you will:
- Prioritize the Health, Safety and Environment, including creation of Job Hazard Analysis or Safe Work Procedure related to IT tasks
- Interface with customers and stakeholders on a regular basis
- Proactively manage preventative maintenance tasks, and risk-analysis associated with service incidents and problems
- Trigger critical incident management based on observed alarms, issues and requests; escalate issues to other teams or vendors as required, and ensure timely resolution
- Ensure that all change management follows a high level of standard when it comes to quality control and respect of the specifications or standards. Provide training or coaching to clients where required
- Drive IS&T cost control initiatives, and decision-making, strategy, and prioritization
- Provide coaching to the local IS&T team on IS&T tools and processes
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with local providers and teams from different regions around the globe

Required Skills/Qualifications (Sr. Systems Admin):
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A strong safety mindset
- Associates / Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in Information Systems Operations and Support
- Problem-solving and critical thinking to identify and prioritize solutions based on their business value
- Excellent listening skills to understand and clearly define clients or colleagues needs, with strong verbal and written English skills to convey and articulate information effectively to technical and non-technical people
- Experience with complex relational databases (SQL/Oracle), SSIS, SSAS & SSRS will be an asset
- Experience with Cisco and VMWare technologies and relevant certifications is an asset
- Experience with control system infrastructure such as Rockwell Automation & Emerson DeltaV systems will be an asset
- Understanding of ITIL and DevOps practices is an asset
Required Skills/Qualifications (Jr. Systems Admin):

- At least 2 years of relevant experience in Information Systems Operations and Support
- Problem-solving and critical thinking to identify and prioritize solutions based on their business value
- Excellent listening skills to understand and clearly define clients or colleagues needs, with strong verbal and written English skills to convey and articulate information effectively to technical and non-technical people
- Experience with Cisco and VMWare technologies and relevant certifications is an asset

Desired Skills/Qualifications (Both Sr. and Jr. Systems Admin):
- Experience in heavy industry field – Mining, Oil & Gas, Heavy Construction, etc.
- OSHA safety training or certification
- Comfortable going onto mine site and underground as needed
- Comfortable wearing protective wear (PPE)
